Black Man Confusion

This morning Isabelle was looking at an ad that came in the mail. All of a sudden she got SO excited.
Isabelle: Mom!!! It was his birthday! Look Mom!
Me: Oh, who is that?
Isabelle: I don't remember his name.
Mom: Just try, make a guess.
Isabelle: OH! I remember! It's King Luther!!! (Martin Luther King Jr.)
Mom: (trying VERY hard not to laugh) Oh, uh, no. That's Will Smith.

So I guess they kinda have the same hair-do and they are both black....I think the similarities end there. Although I do like Will Smith and MLKJ, so they have that in common too.
This reminds me of a similar conversation that happened during the Obama election. We were at Walmart checking out and Isabelle got SO excited cause guess who was on the cover of People magazine??? Her Uncle Jotham!!!
Isabelle: Look mom, look!!!!!! It's Uncle Jotham!!!
Mom:Where???? Ummm....nope. Honey that's Barack Obama!

It too was So funny and I tried not to laugh. But I did have a good laugh later with Jacque, Jill & Jamie (Jotham's wife). I think the ONLY thing they have in common is they have similar, and I mean very slightly similar, hair. Other than that I think my daughter was hallucinating.
I mean can you see the resemblance? Jotham is sitting off to the left in this family photo.
The funny thing is that she absolutely LOVES Uncle Jotham. I think she might even have a slight crush. She gets a little shy when he comes around. Probably cause he is so nice to her. He has a way of singling people out in a crowded room and making them feel special. So no wonder she LOVES him! We all love Uncle Jot....but I for one do not think he resembles Obama...just sayin.

I'm feeling a bit like Eeyore...

"Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, please shine down on me!
Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. golden sun, hiding behind a tree."
"These little children are asking you, to please come out so we can play with you.
Oh Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, please shine down on me."

Sweet Heart Hair

Today is Isabelle's Valentine's Day party at school! She is no longer sick, thank heavens, so she gets to go and she is SO excited! I told her I would do her hair special and this is how it turned out! I love the pink fuzzy yarn, the picture does not do it justice. I LOVE having her hair long so i can play with it!
Here's the happy girl!

Butter Head

I just thought I would take a trip down memory lane with you today. For some reason I thought of this picture today and thought I would share because it STILL cracks me up.
I was out for the evening, don't remember where...but whatever. When I came home the kids were in bed and Matt told me he needed to show me a cute picture of the kids..... Apparently we left the butter out on the table after dinner and Isabelle thought it would be fun to butter Ben. Oh boy did she get into trouble. In all fairness Ben was enjoying himself (who doesn't love a scalp massage???) and the only reason he is crying is because Matt made him sit still for the picture.
I really should frame this one. We have tons of pictures up with us posing and looking adorable....well I think we should show the world just how fun and crazy our family is!

Hundred Day!!!

Hundred Day at school marks the hundredth day of school, obviously. They plan this day straight from the get go and it is SO exciting. The play math games all day and have a party with treats. Isabelle has been talking about it for ages and has been anticipating this day like it was her birthday. They have been talking in school about the many activities they are going to do, so fun! They even sent home this huge poster board heart to fill up with 100 items. Isabelle put noodles and beans on hers and might I add...it is adorable. I helped her modge podge the paper on the background....yes I helped, I didn't take over although it looks like I might have...I swear I just have a creative genius on my hands!
So Isabelle was sick yesterday with a fever and sore throat. I kept her doped up on meds and she had a million vitamin C throat drops. Every time she said a prayer yesterday she asked that she would please be able to go to school tomorrow (which is today).
Well she woke up this morning and yeah, a fever....101.1
She kept telling me how good she feels as she is lying on my lap completely miserable. Poor girl starts sobbing because she has been counting down the days and is missing Hundred Day. Of course my heart just breaks and I cry with her. It is a very sad day in our house. How do you tell your 6 year old that they can't go to the funnest day of school because they will get their friends sick??? This kid could totally take advantage of me today because at this point I will give her ANYTHING!!!!

I'm So Excited!

Well I just got the good news that my beautiful niece Breana has been accepted to BYU-ID!!!!!!
I am SO excited for her and tremendously proud!!!!
She will do amazing, although she will definitely need warmer clothes cause it is FREEZING up there!
Congrats Bre!
(By the way, this picture of her and my mom was taken at her...ahem...8th grade promotion. Yeah, I know pathetic...she is a SENIOR now! I do have more recent ones, but they are mostly of her dodging the camera and seriously do not do justice to her pretty face. Maybe some day she will finally decide to let me take a normal picture of her.)
